dhoop: what's my rashi?
ye sabse common question hai 🙂
birth ke time Moon jis sign mein tha, wahi tumhari rashi
date, time aur city se mil jayegi

In Vedic astrology, your rashi (moon sign) is the sign the Moon was in when you were born, so it often differs from your Western sun sign. Give the tool your date, time and place of birth and it'll find your rashi and say what it means. It is free, with no sign-up.

Example: Born 15 August 1947 at midnight in Delhi, the Moon was in Karka (Cancer), so the rashi is Karka.

Questions

What is a rashi?

A rashi is a sign of the zodiac. In Vedic astrology, "your rashi" means the sign the Moon was in when you were born. Many people in India use it as "my sign".

Why is my rashi different from my Western sun sign?

Two things differ. Western sun signs follow the Sun and the tropical zodiac. Your rashi follows the Moon and the sidereal zodiac. The two zodiacs are now about 24 degrees apart, so the same planet often sits in the neighbouring sign.

Can I find my rashi without my birth time?

Often, yes. With no time, the Moon stays in one sign all day on about 56 of every 100 days. If you know the part of the day, that rises to about 89 of 100. On the other days I show both signs and when the Moon changed, so you can see which fits. (Counted over 3 000 days with this tool.)

Is the rashi calculator free?

Yes. It's free, and you can see your rashi without making an account.

Which system does it use?

The sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the common standard in India.
